Attendees: Gail Richardson, Bill Crawford, Dick Humke, Joan Wempe, Ginger Grizzle,
Jamie Hendon, Art Dietz, Beverly Haverstock, Clyde Warner, Dorn Crawford, Jeff Webb, Harvey Turner, Ruth Robins and Will Cary
The meeting opened at 5:25 P.M. with Rev Humke giving a prayer.
Planning, Personnel and Volunteers
A written report was given by Susan Baker. A discussion ensued about establishing a stronger volunteer system as well as continuing review of staff roles.
Budget and Finance
Harvey Turner reviewed the current state of the Rector Transition Fund: $37,000 of $110,000 goal. Does the congregation have an understanding of the basis for this need?
Approval of Financial Report (Hendon, Cary)
Jamie Hendon gave a "heads up" on a mailing that the vestry will receive with regards a structure of the Renovation Loan repayment to the Endowment Fund.
Stewardship
A review of the latest meeting of the Stewardship Committee and their plan for this year Every Member Canvas which would run from October 13, 2002 thru November 3, 2002. The latter date will be the occasion of an Appreciation Sunday combined with Time and Talent event.
Ruth reemphasized the need for strong Vestry support - from pledging to canvasser contacts.
Ginger Grizzle then reviewed the Education piece that is being written and will be shared with the congregation. It will include hard numbers with regard to the 2002 budget.
It was decided to delay publication until a little further along the completion of the Rector Transition Fund.
Building, House and Grounds
Dorn Crawford brought to the Vestry's attention to the need to undertake a major project: plastering certain areas of the church which would entail repainting the interior of the Church. Plans to follow.
Senior Warden's Report
Bill Crawford reviewed some comments made by Rev. Dan McKee after his visit. Bill suggested that an insert from the Search Committee be placed in each Sunday's bulletin. We also need to fuel participation of the Vestry in the Rector Transition Fund.
