Information Sharing and Discussion

The Senior Warden shared the following documents (hereby incorporated by reference) relating to the current circumstances of Fr. Marc Vance and his call as Calvary’s rector:

· January 8, 2004 letter from Bishop Gulick to Mr. Frank Fleck, Jr. of Paul Semonin Realtors

· January 9, 2004 letter to Calvary Church from Fr. Marc Vance withdrawing his acceptance of Calvary’s call

Information was also shared regarding the January 9, 2004 meeting which Bishop Gulick held with Fr. Dick Humke, the executive committee of the vestry and the chair and co-chair of the recently concluded search committee.

Discussion ensued regarding the appropriate next steps to take to reinitiate rector search efforts. Motion was made (motion Snow, second Turner) and approved by the vestry to reconstitute a search committee utilizing those members of the recently concluded committee who are willing to serve once again. Sally Reisz, co-chair of the prior search committee, indicated that the previous chair, John Bugbee, is unable to serve again. Everyone else from the prior committee had already been contacted and had indicated their willingness, except for Lynne Lyndrup who was out of the country and not able to be contacted prior to the special call vestry meeting. When asked by the Senior Warden if any of the prior search committee members had indicated a willingness to serve as chair of the new search committee, Sally stated that she would be willing to volunteer.

Fr. Humke also informed the vestry that he would remain with Calvary as our interim rector through May 2004, subject to his having time off in March as previously agreed. From May on, he will consider further service as interim in increments of two months at a time.

Closing

The meeting ended with the vestry members and Fr. Humke moving on to the sanctuary for the 11 AM Sunday service.
