Easter Ideas for Families

Make an Easter Family Prayer book.
Today it is easy to find a nice journal that is full of empty pages waiting for
your contributions. Or, you can make your own, using blank or special
paper, staples, or a whole punch, string, etc. And maybe the cover could
be of family photos glued together like a collage and laminated.
Once the book is assembled, you are ready to begin.
Together or individually, write Easter prayers, or copy your favorite prayers
from The Book of Common Prayer or from other sources. Prayers especially
relevant include those about new life, birth, nature awakening, Jesus as our
friend and redeemer.
This book could be used to read together at bedtime or before meals or other
special occasions.
Prepare an Easter Tree.
Take a walk together and choose a tree branch (and place inside a pot filled
with rocks) or use a plant already potted inside. Then prepare
decorations from Easter Symbols, such as lambs, rabbits, eggs, butterflies,
lilies, pomegranates (If you need templates, please see Callie).
Other ideas:
Send Easter greeting cards to friends and family
Paschal Banner
Prepare an Easter basket (maybe with flowers, muffins or bread instead of
candy) and take it to a neighbor
Easter Prayers: Dear God, we thank you for the miracle of Easter;for
sending your Son, Jesus, to overcome death. When darkness or death
separate us from you and from each other, give us faith to claim your
life-giving Spirit. At the dawn of each day, let us awaken to a new
Easter morning. Amen.
We thank you, Lord Jesus, for signs of new life: for butterflies, eggs, lilies,
and lambs. Help us to see in these symbols the good news of Easter: that
things which had grown old are being made new, that you are bringing all things
to perfection. Amen.
