CHURCH YEAR/SEASONAL DESCRIPTIONS
Season after Pentecost
(Up to 29 weeks)
The weeks between Pentecost and Advent, the Season after Pentecost, in which Christians develop their relationship with the risen Christ, complete the church year. These weeks are not to be thought of as merely filling up the rest of the calendar. They offer us a chance to explore our world and the meaning of our lives as we live them between the first Coming and the final Coming of Jesus Christ into the world.
The First Sunday after Pentecost is called Trinity Sunday, a day set aside to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three in one unity. The Last Sunday after Pentecost is Christ the King Sunday. The liturgical color for Trinity, All Saints, Sunday after All Saints (next to last Sunday after Pentecost) and Christ the King Sunday is white.
The remaining Sundays after Pentecost are called Propers. The liturgical color for these Sundays is green.
